Testimonials for Catherine
From Dr. Robert Olson, professor at Missouri-Kansas
City, Longmont Symphony conductor, and Recipient of 2005 Mahler
Gold Medal
While coming as no surprise at all, Ms. Millis was
terrific in her performance of the Gershwin Rhapsody with the
Longmont Symphony last year. In addition, I began a series
entitled TALK BACK wherein the soloist and myself invite all
audience members to meet after the concert and any questions are
fair game. Catherine was wonderful in that environment,
intelligent, inviting, and warm.
From Dean Kevin Woeffel at Idaho University
It was a pleasure working with Catherine. I am not alone
in this regard, as I have overheard more than one faculty member
at CU comment that she is one of the most talented pianists to
come through the College of Music. Her motivation to learn is
constant, yielding work that is exemplary. Attention to detail,
steadfast determination, and honest work ethic describe her
persona.
From Professor Doris Pridonoff Lehnert, University of
Colorado at Boulder
Catherine Millis has been my doctoral student at the U.
of Colorado at Boulder for the last four years. She is truly an
exceptional talent and an extraordinarily developed pianist. She
plays with great nuance, color, and imagination and possesses a
superb technique.
She not only possesses great performance ability but she
has the additional talent to be a great teacher. I entrusted her
with my university students during my sabbatical the spring of
2006. She did an exceptional job and I can truly recommend that
her presence would enhance the faculty at any university. She
has been giving performances at several universities around the
country and master classes, and each place she has performed and
taught they have asked her back because they have enjoyed her
performances and her teaching style.
As a business person, she has some of the most superb
organizational and computer skills I have observed in my
personal life. She personally managed our daughter's business in
a professional and extremely organizational way, as well as
creating our travel plans for over 15 years. She has a masters
in violin performance and pedagogy which gives her even more
experience and diversity and therefore a greater perspective in
dealing with a broad range of students. Her solo performances
with orchestras such as the Austin and Dallas Symphonies and her
ensemble work with a variety of orchestras and chamber groups
for over 25 years provides a broader outlook in teaching and
working with greater numbers of people.
Her organizational skills, and ability to juggle many
different talents, including managing people was confirmed when
she started her own business from scratch and grew it to a
multi-million dollar business with seven full-time employees.
She possesses an entrepreneurial skill to use technology in a
most practical way to benefit students and colleagues, for the
purpose of both teaching and performing.
She also happens to be a great person, honest, hard
working, sweet, and easy to get along with.
